Summer at Bishop Lynch offers seven weeks of academic, art and athletic camps on the beautiful Bishop Lynch campus in East Dallas.

 

Taught by faculty, coaches and other seasoned and enthusiastic instructors, there are more than 50 unique camps for rising kindergarten to eighth-grade students.

Baseball (AM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Male | Grades K to 8th $140 The Friar Baseball camp staff is dedicated to teaching all aspects of the game including skill development, game strategy, competition and mechanics. During the week, campers will receive instructions on throwing, hitting, baserunning, agility and speed training. Camp Create (PM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM Grades K to 5th $140 Do you love D-I-Y projects? At Camp Create, campers will have the opportunity to do just that. Campers will build, cut, draw, create, print, collaborate and design. At the end of camp, each camper will have completed projects to take home with them. Drones World Camp (AM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Grades 4th to 8th $150 This camp explores a wide variety of subjects through the lens of understanding a particularly useful, popular, and fun technology. Kids will start by learning how unmanned aerial vehicles—drones—are used for a wide variety of purposes, including scientific endeavors, business, and even therapy. They will learn about the basic parts of a drone, learning about its mechanics and engineering. Interacting with real drones, kids will then learn the basic principles of aerodynamics. Students will then explore other types of unmanned vehicles, including submersibles, and consider legal and ethical questions around this type of technology. Finally, students will apply what they’ve learned and think about how they would use aerial unmanned vehicles! Students will gain skills in all four STEM areas: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We will use several different mediums to make bracelets, pins, rings, and necklaces. Express your creativity and then wear your creation home. Sample projects include friendship bracelets, statement necklaces, and pins to add a pop of color to your backpacks! Lego Engineering (PM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM Grades K to 4th $140 Learn, build and play with LEGO bricks. This camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education. Campers will enhance self-esteem through problem solving and completing projects, improve fine and gross-motor skills through manipulation of small components and improve social/emotional skills through patience, teamwork and communication. Lego Robotics (AM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Grades 5th to 8th $150 Learn to design, build and program awe-inspiring robots using LEGOs most advanced and newest robotics technology. Campers will work as a team to complete projects and games designed for the robots. Students will leave with an understanding of the engineering design process and the skills needed to build and program robots. STEAM Camp Makerspace (AM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Grades K to 4th $140 Full STEAM ahead! Summer at BL’s STEAM Camp will integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and math with engaging hands-on activities. Campers will learn to apply problem-solving skills using various techniques while working in a collaborative setting. Through designing a catapult, engineering bottle rockets, reproducing paper, constructing a self-propelled car, and more, campers will have fun while learning important concepts. When you take real-world mathematical lessons and add a big boost of creativity, you get happy – and smarter – campers! STEAM Camp Makerspace (PM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM Grades 4th to 8th $140 Full STEAM ahead! Summer at BL’s STEAM Camp will integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and math with engaging hands-on activities. Campers will learn to apply problem-solving skills using various techniques while working in a collaborative setting. Campers will create rollercoasters, build tiny houses, create stop motion movies and so much more! Volleyball (AM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Grades 2nd to 5th $140 The Lady Friar Volleyball camp provides an opportunity for athletes to significantly improve their volleyball skills. Coaches will help players perfect their technique and overall game through specific instruction, drills and games. Players will leave the camp with a solid foundation and the necessary tools to be a more consistent and effective performer at any level. The woodworking projects will also incorporate ceramics and campers will have the opportunity to create a number of different vessels that are made out of both wood and clay. Campers will take home their finished projects at the end of the camp. World Explorers (PM) W1 06/14/2021 - 06/17/2021 M - TH, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM Grades K to 4th $140 Join us as we travel around the world on the BL campus! Campers will nurture their love for exploration and create a sense of respect for other ways of life in this fun camp. Each day we will learn about a different country through games, crafts, and yummy food. We will immerse ourselves in culture as we become world explorers!

Campers can expect emphasis on the rules of the game while also participating in daily competitions, relays, full-court games and other skill-developing activities. We will work with local nonprofits like Austin Street Shelter, Feed the People Dallas (organized and run by BL current students), CC Young, The Brady Center, Children’s Medical and more! Campers will receive service hours for their schools and will take the BL bus to different locations. Camp Color Craze (AM) W2 06/21/2021 - 06/24/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Grades K to 5th $140 Join us as we dive into the world of color! We will explore color with many exciting and unusual materials. Activities will include paint drippings, poured paintings, tie dye, and cyanotype. Campers will bring home many colorful masterpieces. Throughout the week, campers will participate in activities that promote kindness and empathy while working with local nonprofits that impact homelessness, hunger, the elderly and animals. Cheer and Dance (AM) W2 06/21/2021 - 06/24/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Female | Grades K to 5th $140 Join our Bishop Lynch Cheer and Brigade programs for this fun-filled camp! Campers will experience fundamental movements, flexibility, balance, coordination and positive self-esteem. Each camper will learn two to four short dances, four chants and several basic cheer motions. Through small group and age appropriate training, campers will gain self-confidence and a greater appreciation of cheer and dance. Creative Writing Workshop (AM) W2 06/21/2021 - 06/24/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Grades 4th to 8th $140 Hone your skills and explore your passion of writing through our Creative Writing Camp. Immerse yourself in the world of poetry and fiction during this four day camp. Guided by our Bishop Lynch instructor, campers will develop a portfolio of poems and stories and learn how to give and receive constructive feedback. Campers will participate in traditional and non-traditional games such as capture the flag, hula hoop activities, sharks and minnows, relay races and much more. The goal is to have fun while learning agility, coordination, balance, self-esteem and teamwork. Campers will nurture their love for exploration and create a sense of respect for other ways of life in this fun camp. Adventures in Art (PM) W3 06/28/2021 - 07/01/2021 M - TH, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM Grades 2nd to 8th $160 With Adventures in Art, each day of the camp brings a new project. Activities include drawing, painting, collage and sculpture. Under expert guidance, campers will have the chance to explore a wide range of art materials and techniques, with an emphasis on exploration and self-expression. Lessons will also include some introductory level art history and appreciation. At the end of the camp, each student will take home fond memories and a portfolio of artwork. Soccer (Girls) (AM) W3 06/28/2021 - 07/01/2021 M - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Female | Grades K to 8th $140 At this age appropriate soccer camp, players will be given the most advanced youth soccer curriculum featuring innovative games and techniques to teach and develop players in all facets of the game. This camp will also provide individual drills that each player can use in their backyard or at the park. While using a variety of supplies like wood, paint, string, beads and buttons, you’ll be sure to have a great time. Come along for a fun week packed with crafty ideas! Mini Mad Science - 3 DAY (AM) W4 07/06/2021 - 07/08/2021 TU - TH, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Grades K to 4th $105 This unique camp will offer an incredible collection of projects and experiments that will amuse and amaze your little scientist! By being involved with several hands-on activities your child will explore the basic scientific ideas that play a role in everyday life. Sample projects may include marshmallow catapults, vinegar volcanoes, gravity free water, and how to tell if an egg is raw or boiled from the outside! In addition, campers will create projects to take home!

Kids will start by learning how unmanned aerial vehicles—drones—are used for a wide variety of purposes, including scientific endeavors, business, and even therapy. They will learn about the basic parts of a drone, learning about its mechanics and engineering. Interacting with real drones, kids will then learn the basic principles of aerodynamics. Students will then explore other types of unmanned vehicles, including submersibles, and consider legal and ethical questions around this type of technology. Finally, students will apply what they’ve learned and think about how they would use aerial unmanned vehicles! Students will gain skills in all four STEM areas: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In this camp, we'll go over all the skills it takes to play, excel and rule the game like a pro! We'll cover everything from the basics of crafting and enchanting to learning building techniques to make anything look great. A whole endless world awaits! Campers need to bring their own device (LAPTOPS/PCS for 4-8th grade camp). Devices can be locked up for safety if a camper attends morning session as well. By being involved with several hands-on activities your child will explore the basic scientific ideas that play a role in everyday life. Sample projects may include marshmallow catapults, vinegar volcanoes, gravity free water, and how to tell if an egg is raw or boiled from the outside!
